Winthrop, MA, 8/2/17 - MDR is fully underway with the Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) project on Winthrop Shore Drive in Winthrop, MA. We are currently installing an underground drainage recharge system, water quality units and roadway drainage. The next step will be complete rehabilitation of the existing potable water system including hydrants, house services and cross street connections. The DCR and the Town of Winthrop are working in conjunction with MDR Construction and are excited with the progress of the project.
Needham, MA, 7/28/2017 - Progress continues on Great Plain Ave in downtown Needham. The most recent installation consists of concrete pavers at two intersections, one of which has already been completed. After the concrete paver installation at the second intersection, the next step will be asphalt paving.
Taunton, MA, 7/24/17 - Work continues in Taunton as we begin the street widening portion of the project. County Street will be widened up to 10 ft at the intersection to provide two thru lanes in each direction, a left turn lane in each direction and four foot shoulders. Widening up to 20 feet into the graded, landscaped lawn of a recently constructed CVS building on the Southwest side of the intersection will provide thru lanes in each direction, an exclusive right turn lane in each direction, and four foot shoulders. Additional work includes roadway resurfacing, removing trees where necessary to accommodate the roadway widening, applying pavement markings, repaving driveway aprons, installing new catch basins, reconstructing sidewalks and wheelchair ramps, adjusting and relocating utilities as necessary, and upgrading traffic signal equipment.
Needham, MA, 4/5/17 - Phase 1 of the drainage relief project on Greendale Ave in Needham, MA has been completed. Phase 1 included storm water drainage and road reconstruction. MDR continues work on Phase 2 of the Town of Needham Department of Public Works contract. Phase 2 consists of furnishing and installing 1,550 feet of 24 inch RCP drain pipe along with the associated drainage structures, appurtenances, and coordination/relocation of existing utilities.
Taunton, MA, 5/22/17 - MDR begins work on intersection improvements at Route 140 and Hart Street. This project will provide safety improvements and reduce congestion for vehicles traveling along the “Harts Four Corners” in Taunton, MA. Upgrades to the traffic signal system will help to alleviate the traffic congestion. Construction includes new traffic signal equipment, roadway widening, new drainage infrastructure, new pavement, signage, and pavement markings.
Needham, MA, 5/22/17 - Work continues in downtown Needham where intersection improvements are underway on Great Plain Ave from Chestnut St to Dedham Ave. The completion of the project will see 575 linear feet of streetscape including pavement milling and overlay with areas of box widening and full depth road reconstruction. Other work includes traffic signal installation, traffic improvements, curbing, cement concrete sidewalks, concrete paver surface areas, wheelchair ramps, stamped concrete crosswalks, drainage improvements, new street lighting conduit and outlets within the common, plantings, and various streetscape amenities.
Needham, MA, 7/12/17 - Work continues in Needham as the new reservoir A submersible pump station is put in place. Work on this project also consists of installation of a precast concrete wetwall, precast valve vault, submersible sewage pumps and all appurtenances as well as installation of a precast concrete above grade utility building including all required controls, electrical equipment and provisions to connect the Town's trailer mounted standby generator. Additionally, work includes pigging the existing sewer force main to extend its service life.
Haverhill, MA, 6/24/17 - Lieutenant Governor Karyn Polito was in attendance at the ribbon cutting for the newly completed rail trail in Haverhill, MA. MDR completed the $2.2 million MassDOT contract which commissioned the construction of a 14 foot wide, 3,300 foot long multi-use path. Construction included earth excavation, floodplain compensatory storage area, full depth hot mix asphalt pavement installation, drainage improvements, cement concrete sidewalks, cement concrete wheelchair ramps, installation of modular block retaining wall, traffic signs, pavement markings, path lighting, emergency call boxes and landscaping.
Winthrop, MA, 6/26/17 - MDR breaks ground on new $12,712,719.09 Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) project on Shore Drive in Winthrop. The project includes full depth reconstruction, new sidewalks, curbing, storm drainage system, seawall repairs, landscaping and amenities. The seawall repairs will include; epoxy grouting of existing granite seawall and epoxy injection of existing concrete seawall.
Shrewsbury, MA, April 2017 - Work at the UPS location in Shrewsbury concluded in April of this year. MDR completed feeder staging expansion for 60 tractor trailer units tied into the existing 8ft culvert. Installation of a new drainage system including water quality units was also completed. In addition to curbing, paving and striping, MDR furnished and installed 62 tractor trailer stops for positioning.
Andover, MA, 4/21/16 - MDR employees including; David Brandano and President Mike Saccone volunteer time, truck, and expertise to help local Andover Boy Scouts build a pathway on trail.
Ayer, MA, 8/6/15 - MDR Construction Inc. breaks ground on facility expansion project with Catania Spagna. The completion of this project will see the extension of the existing rail road and construction of a commercial building. MDR helped Catania Spagna, a leading provider of organic cooking oils, obtain a $500,000 grant from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts for the rail road extension.
Tewksbury-based MDR Construction Inc. is moving to a newly built 6,800-sf facility on Shawsheen Street following the remediation of the former Brownfield site. MDR, a heavy civil contracting company specializing in site development, performed the construction itself. The firm has been based in Tewksbury since 1999, according to President Michael Saccone.
